GiAPA NEWS

Feb. 2010: Customers in various
countries experienced loops in IBM APIs QDMLOPNF or
QVWRCSTK, called during GiAPA performance data
collection. IBM has issued PTFs SI38025 and SI38033 for
V6R1, and SI38390 for V5R4 of the operating system.
Oct. 2009: Loop in IBM API QDMLOPNF in job
GIAPAHOTSP (data collection) has been experienced.
IBM has issued PTFs
SI36237 for V06R01 and SI36748 for V05R04
of the operating system.
HOW
TO UPGRADE from GiAPA VO2M01x to V02M03x
1. From top of this page download the following two
files:
° GiAPA User Manual (Password
required)
° Upgrade V02M01
→ V02M02 (Password required, use
same password as for updates)
2. Unzip the downloaded file ( = giapaupg.zip )
3. Install GiAPA V02M02 from save file GIAPAUPD as
described in the back of the GiAPA User Manual
in section "Update GiAPA to new modification level" (database
conversions not needed).
4. Install IceBreak from IceBreakSetup0262.exe as
described in the back of the GiAPA User Manual
in section "Installation of IceBreak" ( = Subsection 2 under
the header "New Installation")
IMPORTANT: Call program GIAPAPTF
after installing version update!

GiAPA introduces Graphics: New options 26 - 27 -
28 in the GiAPA Menu allows creation of a large number of
graphical reports. Please see the description and many examples
in the updated GiAPA User Manual.
The graphics runs directly on the iServer, but shows of
course the results on your PC browser without any software
being installed on the PC!
GiAPA will now automatically receive CPU-usage in milliseconds
(and some I/O-statistics) from Job Accounting, if Job Accounting
is active. This gives a much more exact information for
jobs running a very short time.
Command Line can be called from most GiAPA screens through
using F2.
GiAPA now also collects information on disk usage - the
ASP-% is saved every 15 seconds.
Max number of open files supported by HotSpot analysis increases
from 2.500 to 5.000.
Error correction: Menu option 53 "List Index Generations"
would abend if no index creations were found.
GiAPA menu options 61-62-63 were removed, since they as
off V2 are covered more conveniently by option 53.
V02M01K released 11 November 2008
Error corrected: Number of physical I/Os per Job-Id would
sometimes only contain total synchronous I/Os, which would
result in incorrect total displayed on Job Summary Reports
(Menu option 15).
V02M01A released 26 June 2008
A new version with lots of new features, amongst others call
stack analysis on thread level meaning that e.g. JAVA
now can be analyzed.
A newsletter highlighting all the many new features is
sent to all GiAPA customers.
IMPORTANT: When upgrading from
GiAPA Version 1 you will need to follow the special upgrade
instructions being forwarded to all GiAPA Customers. You
will also need a new software security code.
