Brief introduction to GiAPA:

This software product assists you in using AS/400, iSeries, or System i5 resources in an optimum way. GiAPA is not just another capacity planning tool - it is designed to tell which OS/400 or i5/OS applications have performance problems, and how the application can be improved to run efficiently. GiAPA’s performance data collection consumes less than 0.1 % CPU when retrieving details of all jobs and tasks every 15 seconds. Additional call stack and file usage data is collected automatically for any job exceeding user-defined limits for CPU % or Disk I/O.

Reports will show down to source statement number where to optimize which performance problems. GiAPA works independent of which programming language you use on your System i5, iSeries, or AS/400 – it is not limited to RPG or COBOL code, but intended for analyzing and telling how to improve performance for any program running under OS/i5 or OS/400. GiAPA’s loop trap function causes optimization / improvement of operations by avoiding resources being wasted by looping programs. Additional tools to run more detailed job or program analyses are included: Front end to IBM’s PEX (Performance Explorer) automatic, analysis of job trace data, data base analysis, etc.
